Anthony Coney

I’ve been into Fieros since the inception.  I can clearly remember reading about the two seat mid-engine prototype car that Pontiac was going to put into production for 1984.  Then I remember seeing the Indy Fiero, and it was instant love.

However it would be 17 years before I could own my own Fiero.  My first Fiero; an 87 2M4 was purchased for 250 bucks with a blown engine.  It was delivered from Maryland on Sept 11, 2001.  What a fateful day.  The world changed that day and so did I.  My intent for the car was to do a 3.1 V-6 engine swap on it and restore it.  However, being in the Air Force meant I had more obligations outside of the Fiero since we deployed forces to an overseas location… so the car sat, and sat and sat.  In Feb 2002 I found an 86SE at a used car lot and offered the guy selling it 500 bucks.  By now my schedule had leveled out and I had more time to “play with cars”.

Six months later, the car looked like this:

It became my daily driver while the other Fiero still sat.  Since there were not enough funds to pay insurance on three cars, I sold the 87.

Fast forward to 2003.

I’d admired all the engine swaps and decided it was time to do it.My engine of choice would be the 3.4 DOHC.  I found one and was ready to drop the cash on it when I saw a thread with an already swapped SC3800 for sale.  I’ve always loved the thought of a “blown” engine, and as it turned out the price of this car was cheaper than doing a swap myself.  I made an offer and bought it for much less than what’s advertised.

The car has been one weekend project after the other since 2003.

I dubbed it “Ivory”, and the SE was Dubbed  “Ebony”.  In 2004 I reluctantly sold the 86SE, but it went to a Fiero fanatic that took it to another level, and it became a show winner:

Ivory?  Well this is what she looks like now, but stay tuned.

... And here's Ivory sporting new colors.  The color is Lapis Blue.

The engine has been revamped to hide wire harnesses and vacuum lines.

I've also added an intercooler, 3.2 pulley, and 1.9 rockers all from ZZP.

The interior sports Mr Mikes leather seats and digital gauges that fit the stock
intrument housing.

Cheers!
